Peter’s Reflections On Receiving The Visionaries Award
Peter has been a part of the Education 2.0 Conference’s Dubai Edition twice. He received the Visionaries Award during the conference, which was a meaningful moment for Peter. “I guess, like a lot of people, I probably underestimate myself,” he admits. “I felt like it was unjustified and that I didn’t really deserve it. And now I think, well, I certainly look at things a bit differently, I go down different paths, work in different circumstances, and find myself having something to offer to different people.”

Peter Edman, Owner of Square Peg Learning And Training, is an educator, mentor, and lifelong learner with over 40 years of experience shaping students’ lives. He has taught in diverse settings, from regional schools to special assistance programs, helping at-risk students build confidence and stay engaged with education. Known for his empathy and ability to connect with people, Peter has mentored teacher aides, young entrepreneurs, and learners worldwide.
Beyond the classroom, Peter has been part of statewide mentoring teams that introduced web-based learning to teachers, guiding them through the shift to digital education. He has championed student-led projects, such as helping primary school students create an interactive oral history for their community — a project that gave students ownership and meaning in their learning.
Looking Ahead To Dubai 2025
This year, Peter is eager to take the next step by joining the Education 2.0 Conference in person in Dubai. “As I’ve said before, it’s different to any work conference I’ve been to,” Peter shares. “This is on a bigger stage, a different platform. I’m just interested to see how it works out. I think that you can learn from everything in life. There’s always something to learn and somewhere new to go.”
